And Welcome!

Over the years, I have made a couple of attempts to write blogs, and, if I'm honest, they have usually failed because I was writing them at the behest of others! I had been cajoled or otherwise by other crafters who thought I should! Instead, I travelled along the Facebook route, and more recently into Instagram. However, I now find myself disillusioned with Facebook - too many adverts, far too many keyboard warriors etc etc, and so I've decided to give blogging another go. Wish me luck!

Firstly, a little about me. I am a 60+ avid crafter, married, with one single son who is currently living at home. Crafting is my escape from the day-to-day routine, and my go-to at times of stress. I have crafted in some form more or less all my life - sewing, embroidery, knitting and crochet but things really took off when I discovered papercraft a little over 30 years ago. I was booked for a small operation, and wanted something that I could do whilst recuperating. I bought a few supplies to keep me occupied - little did I realise the depth of the rabbit hole I had just fallen into! I had my op, was fine after 3 days, but by then I was hooked, and so it started!

I enjoy all sorts of papercraft - stamping, inking, watercolour, mixed media. I'm always trying new twists on the old favourites, and looking for inspiration and ways to challenge myself. Before the pandemic, I loved attending classes and travelled far and wide to be taught by some fantastic tutors, and of course, meeting some lovely people on the way. Over the last year, like many of you, I have relied more heavily on classes via the internet, both paid and free. The generosity of these tutors has blown me away, and to be honest has kept me going on some of the darker day. Its also cost me a lot of money, as I there always seems to be something I need that can't be found in my extensive stash of crafting goodies! But hey ho, needs must and I'm not complaining.

I want to try and use this blog to develop my craft. Rather than just publishing pictures on Instagram and Facebook (which I will continue to do), I want to expand on the story behind each piece. What inspired me, the techniques used, and the products involved. Hopefully, I might inspire someone to have a go - attempt something that they thought they couldn't do and encourage others.

I hope you'll join me on this journey.
